Following the Fiesta Bowl, draft decisions are made and freshmen have signed. The 2020 Ohio State football roster is mostly set. But who will start?

Ryan Day passed his first season with flying colors by leading the 2019 Ohio State football team to a 13-1 season and a College Football Playoff berth but that was with Urban Meyer’s players. Now he must continue to win as more and more of his own recruits join the team to avoid being just another Mark Helfrich.

One of the most important questions for Ohio State football in 2020 was answered on Jan. 4 when Shaun Wade announced his decision to return to Columbus for his senior season — passing on a potential first-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft. This news coupled with the expected early departures of Jeffrey Okudah, J.K. Dobbins and Chase Young becoming official in the past week means that Ohio State’s 2020 personnel is mostly set-in-stone, barring a few transfers.

As such, the next natural question is which players will be on the field for the Buckeyes in 2020. The starters at each position range from crystal clear (quarterback) to uncertain (cornerbacks) to complete chaos (H-back).

And while we are looking ahead to 2020, why not look beyond next year with some interesting back-up battles between incoming freshmen at quarterback and wide receiver.
