Once again, Clemson football are underdogs to an SEC team in the 2020 National Championship Game. Here are the keys to the game for Clemson.

The No. 3 Clemson Tigers (14-0) have been considered underdogs throughout the season as they have been an afterthought to the top teams in the SEC. This Monday, the Tigers will be underdogs one more time as they take on the No. 1 LSU Tigers (14-0) in the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship.

The Clemson Tigers are six-point underdogs to the LSU Tigers.

Both teams have met three previous times with the most recent coming in the 2012 Chick-fil-A Bowl game decided by a 25-24 Clemson victory. The first matchup was a 7-0 LSU victory on New Year’s Day 1959. This gave LSU their first-ever National Championship title in program history.

This game will feature highly anticipated matchups including LSU’s top-ranked scoring offense (48.9 points per game) and Clemson’s top-ranked defense (11.5 points allowed per game). This matchup will also two of College Football’s most established quarterback in LSU’s Joe Burrow and Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence.

Despite being on the verge of being labeled as a sole dynasty in the sport of College Football, Clemson is once again undervalued as they will play on the biggest stage. This game will take much more than high-scoring quarters to win this game for either team. Clemson feels like they have an edge due to their status as a complete team.
