College Football Rankings: Way-too-early Top 25 projections for 2020

Wisconsin was a point away from winning the Rose Bowl, but they were undone by an offense that could not maintain possession of the football in Pasadena. Despite outgaining the Ducks by more than 100 yards and five first downs, and despite holding possession for more than 38 minutes, the Badgers gave up four costly turnovers that proved too much to overcome against the Pac-12 champions.
Jonathan Taylor was held under 100 yards rushing in his final game before heading off to the NFL. Jack Coan completed 23 of his 35 attempts against Oregon, and he will be back at quarterback in 2020. There will still be an emphasis on softening up opponents with the ground game, but Coan could throw the ball more next season. Most importantly, though, one of the country’s top defenses throughout 2019 will also be loaded once again as they return next fall.
Appalachian State comes to Camp Randall next season, and the Badgers also face Notre Dame in a neutral-site game at Lambeau Field on the first Saturday of October — right after playing Michigan in Ann Arbor. If they get to the heart of the Big Ten schedule undefeated, they avoid both Ohio State and Penn State in interdivisional play.
