D’Eriq King is one of the hottest properties in the transfer portal right now. With multiple teams expected to target him, here’s why he should pick LSU football.

As Joe Burrow and the rest of the LSU football team ruthlessly dissected Clemson on their way to the National Championship, a simple 13-word tweet from D’Eriq King appeared on Twitter.

Whether intended or not, the timing of King announcing his availability to the college football world as Burrow was playing his final game for LSU football could not have been more perfect.

Here was King issuing a come and get me, whilst all eyes were on a team whose biggest question of the off-season will be how to replace the phenomenal production of Burrow’s senior season.

King is no stranger to phenomenal production.

Let’s not forget, before the 2019 season with the Houston Cougars, King was considered a dark horse Heisman candidate.

The former four-star recruit out of Manvel, Texas, had electrified Houston in 2018.

King led the AAC in pass completion percentage (63.5 percent), passing touchdowns (36), passer efficiency rating (167), and set an AAC single season record with 50 total touchdowns. He was twice AAC Player of the Week, two-time recipient of the Manning Award of the Week, and finished 2018 on the AAC All-Conference Second Team.

However, 2019 started miserably for King and Houston.

Despite becoming the first quarterback in FBS history to have a rushing touchdown in 15 consecutive games, King struggled to get a lackluster offense moving. After four games, he took the decision to sit for the season to retain a year of eligibility.

Now he looks for a new home. There are several teams interested in King and reportedly LSU are one of them. Here’s three reasons why he should take the trip up the I-10 to Baton Rouge.
