Baylor football finds the best head coaching replacement for departing Matt Rhule with LSU Tigers defensive coordinator Dave Aranda.

After a remarkable rebuild and strong 2019 season, Baylor Bears head coach Matt Rhule was offered a significant job with the Carolina Panthers, hoping for a similar rebuild. The Baylor Bears have decided to hire one of the hottest head coaching commodities for many years in LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda as head coach.

With LSU coming off their fourth-ever national championship title in program history and Baylor needing a new true leader, now is the perfect time for Aranda to be a head coach for a top powerhouse in Baylor.

Aranda has been one of the top assistant coaches in College Football since he was at Wisconsin. He had spent four seasons as the defensive coordinator, linebackers coach, and assistant head coach with the LSU Tigers. This past Monday night, the Tigers beat the Clemson Tigers in the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship with a 42-25 score.

This is just one of the long list of accomplishments that Aranda has done as a defensive coordinator for four different programs. Now he will get his chance to prove his worth as a first-time head coach in the collegiate levels. He will do so with a Bears’ team that is coming off one of their best seasons at 11-3 since 2014 when they finished the season 11-2.

Here is why Dave Aranda is the perfect hire as head coach for the Baylor Bears.
