2. Colorado State Rams

The Colorado State Rams continue the theme of both Group of Five teams and teams with new head coaches. The Rams replaced former coach Mike Bobo with former Boston College head coach Steve Addazio.

Fort Collins, Colo., is a long way from Chase Brice’s home town of Loganville, Ga., but the Rams were one of the schools that offered Brice out of high school. Despite the staff that recruited Brice being out with Addazio’s hiring, the Rams need a quarterback since Bobo essentially took starting quarterback Collin Hill to Columbia, S.C., with him.

Much like South Florida, Brice improves the quarterback room at Colorado State by leaps and bounds.

With Hill gone to South Carolina, there is three-star quarterback Judd Erickson, three-star Justice McCoy and four-star transfer Patrick O’Brien. What gives Brice the edge over the three quarterbacks already on campus is, of course, the Clemson experience, but also that he’s a dual-threat quarterback. Addazio likes a dual-threat. McCoy is a dual-threat as well, but he does not have the game experience that Brice has.

The “Clemson Dust” that he has is good for any new coach trying to instill a winning culture in a new place.
