Senior Bowl 2020: 3 takeaways from North’s 34-17 win over South
2. Wide receivers take over the entire week
With the 2020 Senior Bowl being highlighted by the quarterbacks, this established a great opportunity for the wide receivers to step up in front of NFL coaches and scouts. There were recognizable names at the wide receiver position for both the North and South Squad.
One receiver that got immediate attention was former Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver K.J. Hill. From the first day of practice, he was stout in position drills and in 7-on-7 events. He continued to win multiple battles against the opposing defensive backs in practices. Former USC Trojans wide Michael Pittman Jr. was also a dominant receiver for the North in the first two days of practice before suffering an injury.
Former Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Jauan Jennings had a good week in all the practice days with the South squad. Jennings was one of the most dominant receivers in the 7-on-7 and team drills for both teams overall in practice. Jennings caught two receptions for 22 yards and a touchdown from an 18-yard pass from former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jalen Hurts in the Senior Bowl game.
Former Florida Gators wide receiver Van Jefferson was voted in by his teammates as the South Squad best wide receiver. Jefferson continued to amaze NFL coaches and scouts with his excellent route running ability and displayed a great consistency to catch the ball and turn upfield.
