1. Josh Jones, OT, Houston

It’s been a rough year to be a Houston Cougar. When a team has a down year, that has knock on implications for even its best draft eligible talent. After a dominating week at the 2020 Senior Bow, that isn’t something that Josh Jones need be concerned about.

Despite a number of tackle prospects returning to college football for 2020, there are several first round tackle prospects in the 2020 NFL Draft and Josh Jones firmly put himself in that conversation this week.

Jones immediately caught my attention during the week of practice. He was like an immovable object regardless of who he faced. Both UNC’s Jason Strowbridge and Syracuse’s Alton Robinson had an excellent practice week and both were shut down by Jones. Strowbridge was absolutely brutalized in one rep where Jones mauled him to the ground.

In addition to being solid in pass protection, Jones also flashed ability in getting out to the second level and blocking in open space.

He was voted one of the North team practice players of the week, and then took that performance into the game. He created a huge hole for Shea Patterson to step up in to on one play, but the former Michigan quarterback couldn’t take advantage.
