This is one of those recruitments which is quite a head-scratcher. Zachary Evans was released from his Georgia LOI earlier in January and it was shocking to just about everyone because, well, it seemed like a match made in heaven. Georgia is known for churning out elite running backs and Evans is exactly that.

Evans looked to join the line of elite running backs to come through Athens and help replace D’Andre Swift in 2020. He may not have played a ton right away, but he’d have a role.

However, getting out of a letter of intent is extreme and made it seem like signing him would be next to impossible, but Kirby Smart has apparently not given up. He is scheduled to visit Georgia once more before making a signing day decision, but Tennessee is pushing hard for him.

According to recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, he believes that Evans will pick Georgia by signing day — but he admitted it was just a guess.

Evans is the No. 2 running back in the 2020 class and the 16th-best overall recruit, according to 247Sports. Ole Miss and Texas A&M are also in the mix.
