Baylor football has some last-minute changeups to manage with coaching changes, but 2020 National Signing Day could still yield some surprises.

Dave Aranda has a tough job to do. No, Baylor isn’t exactly the bottom-dweller of the Big 12 nor is it an unfortunate head coaching job, but he has to scramble to finish the Bears’ 2020 recruiting class off on a high note after taking over following the 2019 season and Matt Rhule’s unlikely departure after the Sugar Bowl.

The former LSU defensive coordinator was on top of Baylor’s board for replacement head coaches and he’s tasked with continuing the upward trend of the program.

In order to do this, he needs to land some big fish on National Signing Day and there are still some big names left on the board.

Who are the top remaining targets on Baylor’s recruiting board for signing day?

One of Dave Aranda’s first major offers in the 2020 class was three-star safety Mike Harris from Alabama and even though the Bears have entered the race late (offering on Jan. 28), they look to be the leaders in his recruitment.

Harris is listed as the No. 1,096 recruit in the class as well as the 43rd-best player from the state of Alabama, according to 247Sports. He’s listed as both a cornerback and a safety, but he likely translates to the latter at the next level. He’s 5-11 and 180 pounds and can be a lockdown defensive back with speed and quick-twitch ability. And he’s not afraid to hit.

Baylor could use more defensive backs, especially at the safety position, so this fills a need in the 2020 class if Aranda is able to pull off the last-second signing.
