If nothing changes by National Signing Day, Donovan Kaufman will be signing with Vanderbilt, but right now, that doesn’t seem all that likely.

Kaufman is committed to Vanderbilt right now, but the Metairie, La., native has been taking officials over the past couple of weeks. He visited Florida State on Jan. 17 and liked what he saw from the players, facilities and the new staff but he has also been to Ole Miss and was recently offered by Baylor.

The three-star safety is ranked No. 410 recruit in the class as well as the 36th-best safety, according to 247Sports. Vanderbilt is still right there in his recruitment, but it may be a three-team race between the Commodores, Ole Miss and Florida State.

Norvell is facing an uphill battle here but he may have put in enough work in recent weeks to make up ground.

Although he’s not the highest-rated recruit the Seminoles have targeted, Kaufman has the potential to be a star in the defensive backfield with his aggressive style of play.
