Tom Herman is hoping to close out Texas football’s 2020 recruiting class on a high note. How will the Longhorns fare on National Signing Day?

Texas may not have been as “back” this season as Sam Ehlinger dubbed they were after last year’s Sugar Bowl win over Georgia and 10-win campaign, but the Longhorns still have a deep pool of talent and that might be enough to carry them back to relevancy and contention in the Big 12.

Keeping pace with rival Oklahoma has been tricky, though. The Sooners recruit at the same level and have a young coach with a bright future.

Tom Herman has plenty of resources to get the job done and it all starts with signing day every year and the 2020 class could be a crucial one in terms of turning it all around.

Who sits atop the Longhorns’ recruiting board on signing day?

Texas is looking good ahead of National Signing Day with a number of targets, but Tom Herman has to like his chances with four-star athlete Kelvontay Dixon from Carthage, Texas.

Dixon also has strong ties to the Texas football program as his brother, Keaontay Ingram, is the starting running back for the Longhorns. That type of connection doesn’t just grow on trees and it usually aids in deciding the home for recruits.

While Dixon is listed as an athlete, he’s projected as a wide receiver at the next level. He’s 6-foot-0 and 180 pounds and he may not have the best size for a receiver, he can be a nice slot type with speed to burn.

The four-star athlete and former Arkansas pledge is ranked the No. 342 overall prospect and 15th-best athlete in the class, according to 247Sports. Texas is the team to beat here.
