Alfred Collins is a big target and Texas looks like it has a solid grip on his recruitment. Not only is he a lean to the Longhorns, but it would almost be a shock if he winded up anywhere else. Both Oklahoma and Alabama are also pushing for his services, so it’s not a done deal, but it’s close.

The Bastrop, Texas, native has impressive size at 6-5 and 285 pounds so he could probably play anywhere on the defensive line but his athleticism could keep him at end.

Collins is also one of the highest-rated uncommitted prospects in the class. Compositely, he’s ranked No. 62 overall and as the second-best strong-side defensive end and 247Sports lists him as the No. 32 overall player as a five-star. He’s one of the best defensive ends in the country and he’s going to be a threat to see the field right away for the Longhorns if he commits.

While Nick Saban is making a major push for him, coming off an in-home visit a couple of weeks ago, it seems like an uphill battle for everyone but Texas as his mother actually played basketball for the Longhorns.

Collins seems Austin-bound and that’s a big fish for Tom Herman and Co. He could come in and start right away for most programs nationally.
