Neal Brown’s first full year of recruiting with West Virginia football is coming to an end and there are still some names to watch on signing day.

The inaugural season of Neal Brown was a relatively successful one. While the Mountaineers missed a bowl game by just one win under the former Troy head coach, they showed progress.

From the beginning of the year when they looked like a 3-9 or 4-8 team — maximum — the Mountaineers gained momentum and no longer looked like the Big 12’s pushover. They finished 5-7 and set themselves up for a successful 2020 season, especially with a new quarterback and a solid incoming recruiting class.

Who sits atop the Mountaineers’ board for National Signing Day?

West Virginia may have its sights set on a couple of uncommitted safeties on signing day but Charles Bell IV is the best of the bunch and a kid who has a bright future.

Bell’s background is a little cloudy with a recent decommitment from Syracuse back in December and visit to West Virginia shortly thereafter. He is a strong-bodied safety who can play a nickelback type of role at the next level and doesn’t shy away from contact. His 5-11.5, 195-pound frame makes him a prime candidate to contend for time at safety with the Mountaineers.

Getting a visit right after his decommitment from the Orange was big but Bell has been keeping his options open and even recently visited Georgia officially, but according to 247Sports, he has no offer from the Bulldogs.

Bell is ranked the No. 836 prospect and 62nd-best safety in the class, per 247Sports, and looks to be choosing between the Bulldogs (pending an offer), Marshall and West Virginia.
