Arkansas football found its next big-time QB in 4-star Malik Hornsby
Arkansas football landed a big-time target in four-star quarterback Malik Hornsby on Wednesday afternoon. He’ll be the Razorbacks’ next star.
Sam Pittman landed his first big fish since taking over as head coach. The former Georgia offensive line coach has found his quarterback of the future with the commitment of four-star Malik Hornsby from Missouri City, Texas.
This was a major haul for the Razorbacks and Pittman who put in serious work in a short amount of time to bring him to Fayetteville and it just goes to show that Hornsby believes in the system.
Kendal Briles is also an attractive option at offensive coordinator for Hornsby and he’s relatable for the young quarterback. Who wouldn’t want to play for one of the brightest young offensive minds in football as well as for a head coach who prides himself on an offensive line that can protect the quarterback.
Baylor and Texas A&M were in the running for Hornsby, but the trend before signing day was in favor of the Razorbacks and he has become the highest-ranked recruit in Arkansas’ 2020 class, according to 247Sports. He’s ranked the No. 98 player in the class and No. 5 dual-threat.
With Hornsby’s commitment to Arkansas, the Razorbacks have a kid who could compete for the starting job right away with his strong arm and dual-threat ability. He could be the next Jayden Daniels-type of quarterback and we all know how successful he’s been at Arizona State.
With Nick Starkel, Ben Hicks, KJ Jefferson, Jack Lindsey and John Stephens Jones combining to make the quarterback position a nightmare for Arkansas in 2019, Hornsby is a breath of fresh air as the future of the program.
