5. Chris Petersen, former HC of Washington

There has been some biggest news in this very short offseason. On Dec. 2, Chris Petersen announcing that he was resigning as head coach of the Washington Huskies. There wasn’t clear reasoning for his decision other than a need to recharge, which may or may not pertain to his coaching career.

Petersen has had multiple great years with the Boise State Broncos and Washington as he has accumulated an overall record of 147-38. In 14 seasons as head coach of Boise State and Washington, Petersen has never accounted for a losing record. Like Mark Dantonio, Petersen has taken his team to the College Football Playoff once in 2016.

Coach Petersen never made it known why he chose to resign from the Huskies. He might decide the recharge needed for his enthusiasm for coaching might be a change of pace at another football program that is geographically different. A change of pace would invoke a new challenge that would entice coach Petersen to bring him to East Lansing.
