Texas A&M Football tops off great class with two signees on NSD
By Shelbie Warr
On National Signing Day, Texas A&M football added running back Darvon Hubbard and defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson to any already stacked class.
Texas A&M brought in quite the talented class on early signing day, but they were waiting for a few more to make their announcements before the class would finally be complete — including a running back that they definitely needed and a defensive tackle that may be an instant impact kind of player.
Starting with the running back position, the Aggies picked up three-star Darvon Hubbard, who was originally committed to Ohio State. He joins a group of now four running backs that this team will be adding from the 2020 class.
That is a position that the Aggies had a great need for, as they only had one scholarship running back on the team — Isaiah Spiller — as the bowl game rolled around. Now, with Ainias Smith officially moving to the position as announced by Jimbo Fisher on signing day, the Aggies will have six on the roster, maybe seven if Connor Blumrick completes that transition that he began near the end of the season.
That moves us to defensive tackle, a position of need for the Aggies with Justin Madubuike heading to the NFL Draft a year early. Yes, the guys leftover in Bobby Brown and Jayden Peevy are good, but they aren’t a generational talent that Madubuike was for the Aggies in the eyes of many. Enter McKinnley Jackson, a player that the Aggies beat out Alabama for.
If the Tide wanted this player down to the end, I will tell you that Texas A&M fans will be happy to have in their arsenal as the seasons with him on the field begin.
Overall, Texas A&M had quite the haul throughout the singing period. These two are just icing on the cake for the Ags as National Signing Day is officially behind us and we look forward to spring practice.
