Ole Miss Football: 3 instant impact signees from 2020 class
Last, but certainly not least, is Ole Miss’ top signee in the 2020 class, Demon Clowney.
If his name sounds familiar, that’s because his cousin Jadeveon Clowney was a menace at a fellow SEC school, South Carolina. He ended up becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and his cousin may not follow that lead, but he could be an NFL player with his 6-foot-4, 225-pound frame already.
Clowney picked Ole Miss over a dozen-plus other major schools such as LSU, Clemson and Georgia and should be able to contribute right away for Lane Kiffin.
Ole Miss’ defense hasn’t exactly been dominant over the past few years and there may not be a single returning defensive lineman that is guaranteed to start. That’s why Clowney could be the next star up front and take over as the Rebels lost Josiah Coatney, Benito Jones and Austrian Robinson from last year’s squad.
The weak-side defensive end is ranked the No. 222 overall recruit in the class and is the 10th-best player from the state of Maryland.
We could see a budding star hit campus this summer and there’s no way Kiffin doesn’t fall in love with this kid’s tenacity and elite-level athleticism.
