Michigan football finished with a 9-4 record this past season. Here are some studs and duds from this past season for the Wolverines.

It is somewhat difficult to gauge this season for the Michigan Wolverines. One opinion is that Jim Harbaugh had another solid year, finishing 9-4. He’s won eight games or more every year he’s been in Ann Arbor, there have been no scandals, young men are graduating, and they have found some success on the field.

Despite their bowl game woes (1-4 under Harbaugh) and struggles against Ohio State (0-5 under Harbaugh), there is no reason for despair. That’s one lens in which to view the Wolverines. The other lens is a bit more damning.

Harbaugh, who recruited and developed Andrew Luck, has yet to recruit and develop a quality consistent quarterback at Michigan. Maybe Dylan McCaffery is that guy, maybe he isn’t.

The postseason record is bad and he hasn’t beaten Ohio State. In addition, the Wolverines have been awful against ranked teams. Harbaugh is 1-9 against ranked teams since he’s been at Michigan. So this season’s record and performance are all about perspective. Their nine wins were against teams they were better than. Their four losses were against teams that were better than they were. They threw in a stinker and were an end zone reception away from beating Penn State.

Here are some studs and duds from this season.
