There’s a new era of Mississippi State football upon us as Mike Leach has taken over for Joe Moorhead. Who’ll have an immediate impact form his first class?

Mike Leach has taken over a program that’s looking for answers after the Joe Moorhead era and there’s hope for the future for the first time in a couple of years.

Mississippi State has the resources, is bringing in the No. 27 recruiting class in the country and has shown in the past decade that it can compete. Leach seems like the right hire for the job and his incoming recruiting class could have an immediate impact in Starkville.

Which incoming signees will have an immediate impact for the Bulldogs?

Mississippi State’s defense wasn’t as stingy under Joe Moorhead as many had hoped following the Dan Mullen era but a kid like Emmanuel Forbes can change the outlook of the defense.

While the Bulldogs return freshman cornerback Jarrian Jones, they also lose Cameron Dantzler which means that a spot could open up at cornerback under Mike Leach.

Forbes is one of the highest-rated signees in Mississippi State’s 2020 class, ranking as the No. 184 overall prospect and 12th-best cornerback, according to 247Sports. He’s also the No. 2 prospect from the state of Mississippi and chose between both big-time programs in the state so you can bet Ole Miss is going to regret missing out on him.

And Forbes has solid size at 6-1, 170 pounds. He may not be enrolled early, but he should have an impact on the Bulldogs’ defense from day one.
