Once again, Clemson football signed the top class in the ACC and one of the best in the country. Which signees will contribute right away?
Are we supposed to be shocked that Dabo Swinney and Co. reeled in one of the best recruiting classes in the country yet again? Probably not because that’s what happens when your schools has a ton of resources, an elite coach and a recent history of winning titles.
Clemson has the No. 3 class in the country and it’s also tops in the ACC yet again, proving that the Tigers are the team to beat in the conference.
Swinney has plenty of talent to work with in his 2020 class and while he doesn’t have to replace a star quarterback or running back, there are some important positions of need.
Which incoming signees will have the biggest impacts in 2020?
Clemson is losing four starters along its offensive line and while most programs would take that as a massive hit, the Tigers are just reloading.
Gone are John Simpson and Gage Cervenka from the guard spots, Sean Pollard at center and Tremayne Anchrum at right tackle while the lone returning starter is Jackson Carman. The Tigers have an impressive incoming class along the offensive line such as Mitchell Mayes, Bryn Tucker, Walker Parks, John Williams, Trent Howard and Paul Tchio.
All of them can have an immediate impact in 2020, but I went with Tchio, an All-American. He’s the No. 102 prospect in the class as well as the third-best guard, according to 247Sports. The interior of the offensive line may be the most important to replace with three losses so that’s where Tchio comes into play.
The four-star from Georgia isn’t enrolled early, but expect the 6-5, 300-pounder to have an immediate impact when he gets to campus this summer.
