Ohio State football had yet another outstanding season. It won another Big Ten title and made the College Football Playoff. Here’s the report card.

The Buckeyes win football games. It is just that simple. One could argue that Urban Meyer coming to Columbus refocused the program on national prominence, but Ohio State never had a “down cycle”.

Excluding the one season (2012) they were banned from the postseason, Ohio State has gone to a bowl game every season in the 21st century. The last time the Buckeyes were not in the postseason was 1999, and you have to go back to the Earle Bruce/John Cooper transition to find the last time the Buckeyes missed the postseason in consecutive years.

This season was more of the same for the men from Columbus. The Buckeyes finished 13-1 under first-year head coach Ryan Day and made the national semifinal, falling to the Clemson Tigers in one of the best games of the season. They were outstanding on both sides of the ball, dominating on both offense and defense.

Georgia-transfer Justin Fields had a Heisman Trophy-winning had it not been for Joe Burrow putting up video game numbers in Baton Rouge. Chase Young rewrote the defensive record book at Ohio State and the Big Ten. Had they figured out how to score touchdowns instead of kicking field goals against Clemson, the Buckeyes — not the Tigers — would have squared off against LSU.

By the numbers, it was one of the best seasons in Ohio State football history. Here is the final report card for the Buckeyes’ 2019 campaign.
