Blitz Podcast: Tucker leaves Colorado, early Vegas odds for college football
By Zach Bigalke
The Saturday Blitz Podcast returns this week to talk about Mel Tucker’s move to Michigan State and take a look at early 2020 college football title odds.
Sometimes we come up with some prescient discussion in the Saturday Blitz Podcast.
Sometimes the production schedule means our hot takes turn ice cold before the podcast goes live.
The latter happened last week. Our discussion on Mark Dantonio’s retirement and the various options for the next Michigan State head coach went obsolete hours after it went online when the Spartans announced Mel Tucker as their next head coach. That’s the nature of the business, when the completely unexpected can become reality at a moment’s notice.
We try again this week, though, because talking about the never-ending coaching carousel is always fun. Tucker’s departure from Colorado reopens the coaching search in Boulder for the second straight offseason. What does this shuffling mean — not just for the Buffaloes but also the Pac-12 and the hierarchy of haves and have-nots that is developing in the Power Five?
Oh, and who be among the contenders to take over the Colorado job? (If you’re looking to bet on any of the contenders we throw out there, the best bet might just be taking the field after how the Michigan State situation played out. Caveat emptor.)
After the break, the podcast returns to talk about early 2020 College Football Playoff national championship odds. Which teams offer the best value among both favorites and long-shots? Who might be a massive overreach at the sports book?
We discuss it all in this week’s edition of the Saturday Blitz Podcast. You can listen directly above or download by clicking on the title in the player.
