USC football’s 2020 recruiting class doesn’t exactly live up to the school’s prestige but the Trojans still have some guys. who can compete right away.

When you look at the rankings and you see that USC is all the way down at No. 55 nationally, you’d be led to believe the Trojans swung and missed at a lot of recruits in this cycle.

While that may be true with Clay Helton’s job status in limbo for most of the 2019 season, it’s also because the Trojans signed just 13 prospects in the 2020 cycle. Most schools are signing anywhere from 20-25 players so the fact that the Trojans signed about a dozen less recruits than a normal program.

The Trojans are looking to turn things around in 2020 and they’ll need some help from the incoming freshman class which boasts an average rating of over 87 on 247Sports.

Which incoming signees will have an immediate impact on the Nittany Lions?

Looking at the roster, it’s clear that the offensive line needs someone to step up this coming season. The Trojans are losing Austin Jackson and Drew Richmond from the tackle spots which would move some unproven players into starting jobs. Why not give an incoming freshman a serious look?

Courtland Ford, from Texas, has all the size you want in a tackle at 6-foot-6 and 305 pounds. He may be ranked as just the 52nd-best offensive tackle and No. 686 overall prospect in the 2020 class by 247Sports, but he’s USC’s top tackle prospect and his offer sheet speaks for itself. In fact, he’s been offered by the likes of LSU, Alabama, Florida State, Georgia and Oregon, among others.

The Trojans may have found a diamond in the rough here and a few other big programs were trying to poach this 6-foot-6 lineman from the state of Texas.
