2. Strong enough arm on film to make any NFL throw

When you think of Brian Lewerke, you don’t necessarily think of arm strength. However, if you go through his film, you see plenty of throws that show he has a much stronger arm than what he is given credit for.

Lewerke faced plenty of pressure during his time at Michigan State as it wasn’t uncommon for teams to get pressure on him with just bringing three or four guys. This caused a lot of off-balance throws and created some bad habits for Lewerke as he started throwing off his back foot more than he should that eventually led to him falling away from his target. This led to his throws floating at times or being inaccurate.

I’m not claiming Lewerke has one of the strongest arms out of the quarterbacks at the combine, but stating he has plenty of arm strength to make any NFL throw. Not only is his arm strength stronger than given credit for, but he is more accurate than his numbers would suggest as his supporting cast didn’t help him out with the amount of drops they had.

The below clip is a touchdown Lewerke threw against Ohio State. Fast forward to the 1:50-mark of the video. Here he showcases a good, balanced set up in the pocket that leads to a strike for a touchdown.

When he pieces everything together, NFL scouts can see what they have to work with.
