While there will soon be one epic quarterback battle constructed by the 2020 recruiting class between Ja’Quinden Jackson and Hudson Card, that won’t happen for another year when Sam Ehlinger is gone. So while it’d be easy to say these two quarterbacks would have an instant impact, at least for the backup quarterback spot, Troy Omeire is a safer bet.

The four-star receiver from Sugar Land, Texas, is ranked the No. 240 prospect in the class and is the 43rd-best receiver, according to 247Sports.

Not only is he one of the nation’s top receiver recruits, but he’s enrolled early with the Longhorns, so he has an opportunity to impress the staff this spring. With Texas losing Devin Duvernay, Collin Johnson and John Burt, there’s a good chance he could crack the two-deep and join a young, talented corps this fall as a regular contributor.

What makes him even more intriguing is his size at 6-foot-3.5 and 206 pounds. He can be a possession receiver but also has plenty of speed. He’ll have no problem moving the chains.

Luckily for Texas, he’ll be developing a connection with Ehlinger all spring and even Card for years to come.
