Purdue Football: 3 signees who’ll have instant impact in 2020
By Dante Pryor
Purdue football comes into 2020 looking to get back to the postseason. Here are three recruits to help the Boilermakers get there.
The Boilermakers’ 2019 season did not turn out the way they thought it would. Though their 2018 season ended with a blowout loss to the Auburn Tigers in the Music City Bowl, there was excitement and anticipation in West Lafayette for this past season.
Then the injuries started.
There were a lot of injuries — 28 to be exact. Those 28 players were either starters or players expected to make contributions to the team.
Despite this, the Boilermakers fought hard and had a remote chance (at 4-6) to make a bowl if they could have upset Wisconsin and Indiana. What the rash of injuries exposed was Purdue and their head coach Jeff Brohm’s need to continue to build depth in West Lafayette — though few teams could survive the injuries the Boilermakers suffered.
Purdue’s 2020 recruiting class ranked No. 7 in the Big Ten and No. 33 nationally. Their class included five four-star recruits including the No. 1 player from New York and the No. 2 player from Indiana. Brohm brings in some serious playmakers this offseason.
If some of these players pan out, Purdue is a legit threat in the Big Ten West. Of those recruits, here are three can impact the Boilermakers’ 2020 season.
