Wisconsin Football: 3 signees who’ll have instant impacts in 2020
By Dante Pryor
All you need to know about Kaden Johnson is he was an outstanding wide receiver in high school in addition to being a dangerous 3-4 outside linebacker.
Johnson fits the Wisconsin scheme like a glove. Johnson is physical, strong and — since he’s played a lot at wide receiver — uses his hands tremendously well. He has a tremendous first step and sheds blocks for such a young player.
Wisconsin fans have to love the fact they got the No. 1 player out of Minnesota and someone who can come in and start.
With Zach Baun, Chris Orr and Tyler Johnson all gone from last year’s linebacking corps, Johnson is going to challenge for reps next season. If the coaching staff feels like he does not have the ideal size to play outside, they could kick him inside. Truth is the way he high points the ball and fights for 50/50 balls they might just think about kicking the tires on Johnson at receiver.
No matter where he plays, Johnson is too good an athlete to keep off of the field next season.
