Oregon football’s recruiting class included three five-star players. Here are three of their recruits that will have an instant impact next season.

The Oregon Ducks look to change the narrative about their program and their conference this season. Mario Cristobal and his coaching staff know that changing the narrative lies in recruiting.

This season, they signed the second-rated player in the state of California. Last season’s No. 1-ranked player from California, Kayvon Thibodeaux, is an Oregon Duck. Not only are the Ducks recruiting California better than USC and UCLA arguably, but Cristobal and the Ducks are also competing on the national recruiting trail. They bring in a four-star from Florida as well as the No. 1-rated player from Missouri — he’s a five-star, by the way.

That is recruiting in the 21st century. You have to recruit nationally, and you have to keep most of your top recruits in your region. Cristobal and the Ducks want the rest of the country to recognize the Pac-12 as an elite football conference even if there are some programs that do not focus on football that way.

The Ducks’ recruiting class this year and last year — No. 7 and No. 11, respectively — prove Oregon’s desire to be counted among the nation’s elite.

One common attribute of nationally elite programs is true freshmen ready to play day one. Oregon is no exception.

Here are three freshmen who’ll have an immediate impact on the field next season.
