Utah Football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2020
This is the game on the schedule that may not get enough respect right now and it should be one the Utes should be very wary of. Arizona State has been trending in the right direction over the past few seasons under Herm Edwards and now that he’s found his quarterback of the future in Jayden Daniels and a plethora of talented receivers, the Sun Devils will be a problem.
I could see Arizona State being a 10-win team in 2020 and surprising the Pac-12 with a potential division title, which makes this road trip even more difficult for Utah.
The Utes and Sun Devils will play an instant classic here, but Arizona State will get the last laugh, stunning Utah and ruining its perfect season.
Final Score: Utah 27, Arizona State 28 (10-1, 7-1)
The season finale will be another tough one for the Utes, but Colorado will have a different look with Mel Tucker moving on to Michigan State and Karl Dorrell taking the head coaching job.
Utah will be coming off a heartbreaking loss to Arizona State and it’ll either play down or perform like a playoff berth is still possible — which it is. The Utes are the better team in this matchup and it’ll be another nail-biter, but Kyle Whittingham’s squad will come out on top.
Colorado will put up a fight, but with no Steven Montez, Laviska Shenault Jr. or Tucker, the Buffaloes won’t be the same threat they were in 2019.
Final Score: Utah 34, Colorado 21 (11-1, 8-1)
