Loic Fouonji is Texas Tech’s highest-rated prospect and might be the best receiver on the team right now. He has ideal size (6-4, 195 pounds) and great burst at the snap. He can run every route in the playbook and gives Texas Tech a legitimate deep threat on the perimeter — something they lacked last season.

The most important thing Fouonji gives the Red Raiders is a big-time player on campus. He’s the biggest recruit second-year head coach Matt Wells has landed so far.

Texas Tech is a fairly young team and this class was not the biggest; they had 19 commits, not including transfers. When you can bring in a receiver the caliber of Fouonji, he is coming to take a spot. His measurables give him the chance to do so.

They are young at receiver but pairing him with Erik Ezukanma and TJ Vasher — two other big receivers — is going to keep defensive coordinators fits trying to defend that much length, especially if Alan Bowman can stay healthy.
