2. Miami Hurricanes

The Miami Hurricanes have already added one high-profile transfer this offseason in former Houston quarterback D’Eriq King, and I don’t think it’d be too far-fetched if Trey Sermon joined him in Coral Gables this fall. Sermon was offered a scholarship to The U as a high school recruit, and although he likely would’ve been a key cog early in his career at Miami, opted to go to Oklahoma.

Cam’Ron Harris is the only returning Hurricane with any productive experience, having rushed for 576 yards and five scores a season ago as a freshman. And former five-star recruit Lorenzo Lingard entered the transfer portal just before the new year, while DeeJay Dallas left early for the NFL Draft. This opening could be an excellent opportunity for Sermon if he wanted to prove his worth as a three-down back.

A potential duo of D’Eriq King and Trey Sermon is one that would certainly strike fear in opposing defenses, especially those in the ACC. Unless the talking points change, the ACC was a virtual cupcake walk a season ago, at least that’s what Clemson-doubters would have you believe.

Regardless of the league’s defense, though, Sermon would at least give the Hurricanes and their fanbase an injection of energy that could turn into some actual wins on Saturdays.
