The 2020 Big Ten football season is still more than five months away, but there are a few teams gearing up to take down Ohio State.

Ohio State has run the Big Ten for years and when Urban Meyer retired, everyone assumed that the Buckeyes would take a step back.

That wasn’t the case.

Ryan Day led the Buckeyes back to the College Football Playoff with a perfect regular season record and Big Ten title but fell just short against Clemson in controversial fashion. The Buckeyes looked like the better team throughout, but Clemson came back late and stole a win.

Despite the loss in the playoff, Ohio State still looked like one of the best teams in the country and the top team from the Big Ten.

Moving forward, Ohio State is recruiting better than most teams in college football and it has the No. 1 class in the Big Ten coming in as well as the No. 1 class in 2021. That domination within the conference doesn’t look like it’s going to end any time soon, but if there’s any teams that have a chance to dethrone the Buckeyes, who would it be?

Michigan and Penn State would have to be the easy answers, right? They’re in the same division and one of those teams gives them a tough time every year — the other is in quite a drought in the rivalry. What about teams from the west like Wisconsin, Iowa or Nebraska? Or what about Minnesota?

Heck, even Michigan State has given the Buckeyes tough tests over the years, but the Spartans are under new leadership so don’t expect them to contend for a couple of years.

But in 2020, which Big Ten teams could dethrone the Buckeyes?
