The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are losing their entire starting secondary this season. They are losing five of their top nine defensive backs this season. Losing so much talent from last year’s defensive backfield, Isaiah Pryor fills a huge need. He can come in and compete for a starting spot immediately, and he can not only play safety, but he is also good in run support and can cover the slot if need be.

Coming from Ohio State, he brings a work ethic and winning attitude as well. Landing the former four-star was a major pick up for the Irish.

As Brian Kelly and the Irish seek to become one of college football’s elite once again, signing a player the caliber of Pryor is important. This shows Notre Dame is going to be selective with who they sign via transfer.

Pryor was in a crowded defensive backfield and was not going to play a lot if he stayed in Columbus. He saw an opportunity to go to South Bend. It was indeed a perfect storm.

Pryor has starting level talent and the Irish were losing a lot of premium talent from their secondary. He will play a lot and probably start, especially against teams that run three-wide receiver sets in their base offense.
