Big 12 football has been owned by Oklahoma for a while and it’s time another team rises up and takes down the Sooners in 2020. Who will it be?

It’s been six years since the Big 12 honored a champion not named Oklahoma. The Sooners have won each Big 12 title since 2015 and have seven such championships since 2010.

The Sooners were led by Bob Stoops for years and he kept them in the national spotlight, carrying the torch for the Big 12 and then he handed the reins to Lincoln Riley. You’d expect a slight drop-off going from one elite coach to an unproven coordinator-turned-coach, but that’s been far from the case.

In fact, Riley has won three straight conference titles, made three consecutive College Football Playoff appearances and had back-to-back Heisman Trophy winners in his first two years and Jalen Hurts was a finalist in 2019. He has exceeded expectations in his short time in Norman and things aren’t slowing down any time soon.

Oklahoma is that bully on the block and the rest of the Big 12 is looking to rise up and take the Sooners down.

It’s not going to be easy, but there are a few teams that could tackle the Sooners just shy of their sixth straight conference title.

Who will rise up to take down Oklahoma in 2020?
