Big 12 Football: 3 teams that can dethrone Oklahoma in 2020
1. Oklahoma State Cowboys
Last, but certainly not least, is Oklahoma State. Yes, the in-state rival of Oklahoma is the top threat to dethrone the Sooners in 2020 for three reasons: Tylan Wallace, Chuba Hubbard and Spencer Sanders.
Oklahoma State has one of the best returning “Big 3s” in college football and you don’t often see guys like Wallace and Hubbard spurning the NFL draft for another year when many believe they’re ready for the jump and could be early selections.
Hubbard rushed for 2,000 yards last season, Wallace is a walking 1,000-yard receiving threat and Sanders is a budding star at quarterback who, if he can stay healthy, may just become the Big 12’s best passer in 2020. Combine those three with the wealth of experience at head coach and a hopefully-improved defense and you have not just a Big 12 contender, but a playoff one as well.
The Cowboys will make Bedlam in 2020 one of the most intriguing rivalry games because it wouldn’t be all that shocking to see both teams ranked in the top 10.
Mike Gundy has one of his most talented teams in years heading into the 2020 season and the success all depends on the health of his Big 3.
