Jalen Hurts is gone, but don’t count out the quarterback position just yet. The Sooners have another up-and-coming quarterback, but this time, it’s a five-star that Lincoln Riley recruited himself. Spencer Rattler is going to be a special player for the Sooners, but will he be that good in year one for Oklahoma?

It’s hard to tell, but I’m going with yes.

Oklahoma will have plenty of returning talent, led by another potent run game and elite receivers, but will the defense improve? It will, but it’ll have trouble in this one. Unfortunately, it won’t be enough for an Iowa State upset.

Final Score: Oklahoma 38, Iowa State 34 (5-2, 2-2)

Chris Klieman is building a winner in Manhattan. The former FCS head coach has done a solid job in a short period of time with Kansas State but he’s going to have a tough time in Ames on Oct. 29.

Kansas State has one of the most unproven rosters, but that’s not to say the talent is lacking. The Wildcats will make a bowl game this season, but they won’t be able to take down Iowa State on the road. Brock Purdy will have another big game here with Kansas State under the control of a new defensive coordinator.

Final Score: Kansas State 21, Iowa State 31 (6-2, 3-2)
