Iowa State Football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2020
Now we move on to the final two games and this one will be tough.
Texas may not be “back” like Sam Ehlinger shockingly claimed two years ago after a Sugar Bowl win over Georgia, but the Longhorns aren’t going to just roll over at home.
Iowa State will put up a fight here and they’ll fall just short thanks to a clutch late play by Ehlinger, rushing for a touchdown with under three minutes left. Not the first heart-breaker of the season for the Cyclones, but it will be the last.
Final Score: Iowa State 24, Texas 31 (7-4, 4-4)
West Virginia is another program in the midst of a turnaround under Neal Brown but the Mountaineers may be further along in 2020 than people expect.
The Mountaineers won’t be winning any big games yet, though. If you expect them to march into Ames and steal a win from a solid Iowa State team, you’re mistaken. Iowa State wins this one rather comfortably.
Final Score: West Virginia 21, Iowa State 35 (8-4, 5-4)
