Notre Dame football is coming off another 10-win campaign. Here are three big questions the Irish have to answer this season.

Hope springs eternal in South Bend this season. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are coming off of their fourth 10-win season in five years culminating in a Camping World Bowl victory against the Iowa State Cyclones.

This season, however, brings with it much change. The Irish replace 14 starters — seven on offense and seven on defense — starters or contributors next season. Despite this, expectations are high in the land of Touchdown Jesus.

Along with this change are changes to the coaching staff. Most notably is former Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees replaces Chip Long as offensive coordinator.

Brian Kelly has said two things the last two postseasons that have expectations high. He said after their loss to Clemson in the College Football Playoff they weren’t far away from Clemson in recruiting and talent. He said before their win against Iowa State that Notre Dame was a running team and he wanted to get back to the DNA of Irish football.

Are they close to returning to the nation’s elite? How will Tommy Rees fair in his first season as the offensive coordinator? Both good questions.

Here are three better questions the Irish need to answer for next season.
