Auburn football is looking to replace another haul of outgoing starters in 2020. Three players are poised to breakout for top performances this season.

The 2019 season was going to be a slight rebuilding year by starting a true freshman at quarterback. While Bo Nix and some of the other incoming new starters had early struggles, they helped Auburn to a 9-4 record this past season.

The Tigers accounted for a 3-4 record versus ranked opponents, but they did beat their rivals in the No. 5 Alabama Crimson Tide in the Iron Bowl.

After an up-and-down season with a tough schedule, the Tigers will have to replace seven starters on offense and seven starters on defense. The Tigers must replace four of their five offensive linemen, three of their four defensive linemen and all four of their secondary starters.

Recruiting has been huge for the Tigers with head coach Gus Malzahn in his incoming eighth season with Auburn.

Auburn will need some young players to step up and take over some key roles that were left with outgoing players this offseason. There are several reserves and low-caliber starters from last season that will be asked to step up for the Tigers this season.

The biggest area of concern when it comes to leadership and star playing ability will be on defense where they have defensive tackle Derrick Brown, defensive end Marlon Davidson and safeties Daniel Thomas and Jeremiah Dinson.

Offensively, they can rely on their wide receiver corps led by Seth Williams and Nix, who has a year of experience under his belt.
