Baylor football enters 2020 with a new head coach and adjusted expectations, but there’s still hope for Big 12 contention. How will the Bears respond?

Matt Rhule is gone, but won’t be forgotten any time soon in Waco. The former head coach was responsible for the Bears’ turnaround over the past couple of years and his departure, although sudden, should not be frowned upon.

Off to the NFL, Rhule left a talented team behind at Baylor.

That means that incoming coach Dave Aranda has a good chance to have some success in 2020 and beyond. He came over from LSU after winning a national title as defensive coordinator and he’s going to have one heck of a program to build on.

Aranda looks like one of the best new coaches in the nation and there’s a good chance he’ll keep that momentum going. He will have the Bears’ defense playing at a high level and he’ll continue to recruit well, but will the offense follow suit? Former North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora has taken over as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach which is a big plus.

Baylor is a couple of years removed from a 1-11 season in Rhule’s first year and last year the Bears made the Sugar Bowl, losing to Georgia and finishing with 11 wins.

Will Baylor have more of a 2019 result in 2020 or will it be the first couple years of the Rhule era over again?
