Strengths

There are several attributes that make Patrick Queen a practical linebacker in the NFL.

At LSU, he was often a great blitzing backer in the interior with speed and elusiveness. He is quick enough to make burst through the line of scrimmage and make efficient pressures on the quarterback or take down the running back in the backfield.

Queen is highly reliable in making tackles in open spaces and not missing the needed tackles. His ability to make key quick recognizable plays make usually one of the first players to engage with the ball carrier or create chaos.

Queen always looks to be there for the plays due to his hunger and strive to win. He possesses a strong mentality and voice as a leader for the Tigers’ defense. His hip flexibility and change of direction make him a player to chase down the ball carriers from anywhere on the field. He possesses the reactivity and quickness to chase down the ball carriers that pass him. He had the fifth-fastest 40-yard dash time of all linebackers in the NFL combine at 4.5 seconds.

In the coverage game, he has the reliability to play in a zone if he is mobile and doesn’t sit too long. He keeps his chest high waits patiently to make the efficient play needed. He is athletic enough to create man coverage to cover inside wideouts with great hip movements. He can cover efficiently against running backs and tight ends. His lateral quickness is highly beneficial for him to play in a zone as well.
