4. (15) Washington 34, (4) Miami 29

This game checks in at No. 4 on the list and you could have made the argument that it should be higher, but I put it here because at the end of the day, it should not have prevented Miami from going to the national championship.

The Hurricanes should have been in based on the fact that they beat the Seminoles head to head. This game was about as close to a statistical toss-up as you are going to see.

Miami out-gained the Huskies by only about 20 yards, they both turned it over three times and the Hurricanes only had one more penalty than the Huskies did. This game proved to keep Miami out of the title game, although controversially.

This win gave Washington a signature victory for second year head coach Rick Neuheisel and helped propel the Huskies to a Pac-10 title and Rose Bowl victory, despite losing to Oregon just a few weeks later
