No. 99. 31. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. WR. Chase Claypool. 3

There’s little doubt that whoever selects wide receiver Chase Claypool is getting their money’s worth. At the very least, you’re landing a standout athlete who could make a career out of special teams. Best case scenario, you’re getting a multi-faceted every down contributor on offense.

Claypool steadily improved in production during his time with the Irish, logging 81, 402, 639, and 1,037 yards in four consecutive seasons. He more than doubled his career touchdown production when he logged 13 scores last season, establishing himself as Notre Dame’s No. 1 receiver.

There were numerous games last season alone in which Claypool came through in the clutch, a quality that separates the good from the great in the NFL. While not as needy as other teams in the receiving department, the New York Giants are desperate for playmakers outside of Saquon Barkley.

While he isn’t necessarily going to produce offensively from day one, his infectious playing style is one that carries over from play to play. Claypool, who is bigger than tight end Evan Engram, would serve as a great complement to smaller receivers Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard. Based on how the draft plays out, Claypool could end up going anywhere from the 2nd to 4th round.
