123. CB. No. 123. Troy Pride Jr.. 4. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Don’t expect cornerback Troy Pride Jr. to stick around much longer than Kareem. With the amount of cornerback-needy teams in this year’s draft, Pride could find himself selected higher than Julian Love in 2019. While it would be difficult to argue that Pride is as good or better than Love, supply and demand will run its course regardless of positional markets in years prior.

Pride, who played alongside Love from 2016-2018, made a smooth transition into the No. 1 cornerback role in Clark Lea’s defense. Pride played well in this role, but benefited greatly from Notre Dame’s explosive pass-rush. Therefore, Pride can be a valuable asset to a team with an established pass-rush, but his struggles against physical receivers could limit his upside on certain teams.

If the Dallas Cowboys can find an effective pass-rusher across from DeMarcus Lawrence, Pride may be worth a shot in the 4th round. With Byron Jones heading to Miami, the Cowboys could use some depth behind Anthony Brown and Chidobe Awuzie at corner. Again, while Pride’s success will likely depend on the system he plays in, he’s a potential starting caliber player with a late round tag.
