For the sake of remaining consistent, I’m going to predict Jarrett Guarantano wins the starting quarterback job in his final season with Tennessee, and he’ll have a nice bounce-back season.

With that being said, don’t expect him to falter in the season opener like he did against Georgia State last year as the Volunteers will have their way with Charlotte. Opening the season with a convincing win over a Group of Five team? Now that’s refreshing.

Final Score: Charlotte 10, Tennessee 42 (1-0)

After smacking Charlotte around in the opener, Tennessee will come back down to earth in Week 2 with a battle against the Big 12’s reigning champion, Oklahoma.

The Sooners won’t have Jalen Hurts anymore, but don’t sleep on Spencer Rattler. The redshirt freshman is a dark-horse Heisman candidate and he could very well be the most talented gunslinger Lincoln Riley has had — and he’s coach two Heisman winners.

With the game taking place in Norman and Oklahoma having just too much firepower on offense, I’m giving the Sooners the nod here.

Final Score: Tennessee 24, Oklahoma 37 (1-1)
