Regions 3 and 4

1-seed Jalen’s comeback against UGA vs. 5-seed SEC Championship game in 2012

Two iconic SEC Championship performances. Both going down to the wire. Both against the Georgia Bulldogs, and both involved a comeback. This is a tough decision for voters. Some will have a recency bias and vote for the 1-seed, but others will vote for the 5-seed because that win actually led to a championship.

6-seed Blake Sims comeback in Iron Bowl vs. 2-seed T.J. Yeldon’s screen TD

This one seems obvious. Yeldon’s screen TD was in a championship year, it was on the road against LSU, and it was a single iconic play that turned the tide. However, Blake Sims’ comeback against Auburn in the Iron Bowl was one for the ages, and it has already made it further than expected.

1-seed onside kick against Clemson vs. 5-seed Jake Coker’s scramble TD against Auburn

The onside kick was one of Alabama’s two favorite plays from the National Championship game that season, but they got there thanks to a win against Auburn in the Iron Bowl. One major play in that Iron Bowl was Jake Coker’s scramble touchdown. It’s cool that these moments happened in the same season. I expect the onside kick to win, but perhaps the Iron Bowl bump will carry some weight and we will see the first 1-seed off the board.

2-seed Kenyan Drake special teams TD vs. 6-seed Tua’s second half vs. UGA

Two iconic moments from Alabama’s last two national championships. I intentionally put both moments from the Clemson game in the same region in hopes of them facing off in the Elite Eight, but that might not happen. Tua’s second half has gotten plenty of votes so far, but this will me a major matchup.
