Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Clemson. A.J. Terrell. player. CB. 1. 60

There are two elite cornerbacks in this draft; Jeff Okudah and CJ Henderson. Then there is a noticeable drop-off after that and then you get into the second tier of cornerback. This next tier of defensive backs is talented but not elite.

AJ Terrell belongs in that second tier. Terrell’s last impression on the field was not a very good one. He was torched in the national title game against LSU. He is in the group of defensive backs with outstanding cover skills, but he lacks elite ball skills.

He can mirror a receiver and run with any receiver downfield. He has fluidity in his hips and does a great job in and out of his breaks. He does not get turned around often and does not take the bait on out and up routes. His overall size and athleticism allow him to compete for 50/50 balls.

There is a three-way dance between Alabama’s Trevon Diggs, Utah’s Jaylon Johnson and Terrell for the third defensive back taken. Where Terrell goes depends on the fit. The Vikings will nab Terrell with pick No. 25.

Projection: No. 25 overall (Vikings)
