NFL Draft 2020: Jerry Jeudy gives Broncos’ offense Mile-high potential
The Denver Broncos nailed their first round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, selecting Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy at No. 15 overall.
Many experts had Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy as the No. 1 receiver on their draft boards. The fact that he fell outside the top 10 picks was surprising, but still be on the board at No. 15 overall was shocking.
John Elway and the Denver Broncos didn’t blink. The former quarterback knows how important it is to provide your franchise man with weapons. Last year the Broncos drafted Drew Lock. This year they give him Jerry Jeudy at wide receiver to bolster an offense that already includes Courtland Sutton, Noah Fant and Melvin Gordon.
Bleacher Report’s Connor Rogers compared Jeudy to superstar wideout Odell Beckham Jr. That’s high praise indeed, but Jeudy has certainly warranted the comparison.
Jeudy won the Biletnikoff as a sophomore at Alabama. Already a polished route runner at the collegiate level, Jeudy has All-Pro precision with his feet and can run a full route tree. There are receivers who played in the NFL last season who lack the poise and focus that Jeudy displays whenever he’s on the field.
The film doesn’t lie. Jeudy was more productive than his college teammate Henry Ruggs III who went three picks before him to the Oakland Raiders. There’s no reason to expect anything less from him at the next level. After dominating NFL talent in the SEC, he’s going to make a lot of NFL general managers regret passing on him in the 2020 NFL Draft.
