The 2020 NFL Draft went as expected for the first two picks, and Washington ends up with the best overall player in Ohio State’s Chase Young.

We all know that the 2020 NFL Draft really started with pick No. 3. With the Cincinnati Bengals needing a quarterback, Washington was able to take advantage of the true best player in the draft sliding. I know that Joe Burrow is expected to be the savior for the Bengals, but Washington managed to take Ohio State superstar Chase Young, the most talented player in this class.

Young really has no true flaws in his game. With the highest floor, he will play great alongside the other stars on the Washington defensive line. A rotation of Da’Ron Payne, Jonathan Allen, Ryan Kerrigan, Montez Sweat, and Young will compete with San Fransisco for the best front in the NFL.

Young has the talent to be the top defensive player in the past few years. He’s up there with the Bosa brothers, Myles Garrett, and Von Miller. If all he has to do is get to the quarterback, Washington fans will be incredibly happy with the results.

There was a possibility for a trade here, but there was no way that Washington could pass up on this generational pass rusher without major compensation. Especially with Ron Rivera being a defensive-minded head coach, this was a perfect fit.

We’ll see what Washington does now as the rest of the draft continues, but they might be looking to trade Trent Williams before Saturday. This could give them more stock to boost the offensive line and skill players on Day 2. They certainly have needs, and they need to put Dwayne Haskins in a position to be successful so they can truly evaluate him.

Grade: A+

The rest of the draft is up for grabs, but there is no doubt in my mind that Washington hit a home run with their first pick of the weekend.
